Farewell as Klaus Borowski: Axel Milberg plans that after the “crime scene”

With his last case “Borowski and the Head of Medusa”, Axel Milberg (68) said goodbye to the “crime scene” pension on March 16. However, this does not mean that the actor is completely retired. Other projects are already planned.

After more than 20 years as a Kiel investigator Klaus Borowski, Milberg is looking forward to having more time for new professional challenges. In the explained: “21 years have been in a long time in a long time. Very cool other roles are now waiting for me.” For example, there are projects abroad.

He had announced his exit from the “crime scene” in spring 2023, the last case was turned off a year ago. Immediately afterwards, the next task followed: “Shortly after the last Borowski filming day, we went to Budapest in February 2024: For Disney+ we were shooting a series around the Vienna Congress,” revealed Milberg. “Such elaborate productions were difficult at my ‘crime scene’ time, the streaming services expect them to be priority.” In the six -part historical series entitled “Vienna Game” he embodies Friedrich I, King of Württemberg.

He also needed time for other large productions, he also emphasized to the NDR. “For me there is always a spirit of optimism.” This also included filming in the Brazilian jungle for a thriller. His recipe for success is all roles: “make room for the story. And when the story pulls me in and I am in a strange world, I’m happiest.”

However, he no longer seems to have too much desire for a TV thriller. “To be honest, there is too much of it,” he said the “Hörzu”. “Murder at the harbor, in the north, on islands, Halligen, in the mountains, in Amsterdam, Marseille, Trieste, Venice … Actually, the news is enough at 8:15 p.m.” Why do you need even more “blood and pathology scenes”, the actor asks himself. His opinion: that has to stop because it makes you sad. “Why are there no other stories? Why not something that gives courage? Or about anti -Semitism, radicality, the weakness of democracy?”

Nevertheless, he can apparently imagine an appearance as a guest star in another “crime scene”: “Why not? When the script and role are great. Maybe even in Kiel, where I played Klaus Borowski for many years – as a criminal.” However, there will probably be no reunion in his cult role as an investigator. Axel Milberg told “Bild” that he had no interest in a spin-off: “It was discussed whether one could not do it like with Schimanski. So with a series that does not mean ‘crime scene’. No. The end is meant as the end. From for Klaus!” The actor will not return in a Borowski series.

For him, his last working day, which ended in custody, was perfect: “In the end it was the way I wanted it and how it fits the figure.” He probably no longer has a capacity for the “crime scene”. Because in addition to new professional tasks, he wants to “finally spend more time with my family”. Since 2004 he has been married to his wife Judith (born 1962), with whom he has son August (21). From a first marriage, Milberg has another son, Judith Milberg brought two children into the relationship.
