The sudden death of singer Anna R. at the age of 55 shakes the German music scene. The band Silly also mourns.

Most know Anna R. (1969-2025) alongside Peter Plate (57). But even after the separation of Rosenstolz in 2012, the singer continued: she performed with her new band Gleis 8 and was singer of the rock band Silly from 2019 to 2022.

“Very sad”

After the unexpected death, which became known on March 17, her colleagues divided. The musicians wrote about a photo that Anna R. shows during a appearance at the microphone: “We were deeply shocked by the sudden, unexpected death of our girlfriend and former guest singer Anna R.. We know that she still had many musical plans and the more incomprehensible her sudden death.”

The paths had “crossed again and again” over the years. “But the time between 2019 and 2022 was particularly intensive when Anna and Julia Neigel stood at the microphone at Silly and our songs with her very own charm, her great sensitivity and her unmistakable voice breathed new and yet ripe life.” They are grateful for the time together and “now very sad”.

Grief for “exceptional artist”

The band also wrote: “Anna R. has been an exceptional artist again and a person who has given many people with his constant commitment and, above all, with music for a long time. Anna – you will be missing, your voice will be missing!” The thoughts are among the singer, her family and all of her friends and colleagues. Before that, many fans and colleagues had spoken out. Rosenstolz partner Peter Plate announced that he would never forget the “first evening together” with his “dearest Anna”. They would have seen each other “always as siblings. What fantastic times we had! We laughed so much, cried. We held up and let go when it was time.” Plate expressed: “Rosenstolz was one of the most beautiful times of my life. Rosenstolz, that was you and me. And now you are no longer there.” He hoped that she was “somewhere on a Berlin cloud” and it is good for her.

Anna R. was born as Andrea Rosenbaum. Together with Peter Plate, she has been the pop duo Rosenstolz since 1991, which with hits like “Love is everything”, “It can be a start” and “I am” great success. Until their separation declared as a “break” in 2012, the two twelve studio albums released, five of which reached the top position of the German charts. The death of the singer was announced on March 17 on her official Instagram account.
