Amazon Prime Video
Set to debut worldwide on Amazon Prime Video on September 2, “The Rings of Power” is having a major promotional cycle with its debut still over six months away, which is fitting given that Amazon spent roughly $465 million dollars in the first season alone, on top of the $250 million the company spent to secure the rights to the series from author JRR Tolkien’s estate.
The show will be set thousands of years before the events of Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” book trilogy, in the Second Age of Middle-earth.
The cast of the series includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
Executive producers JD Payne and Patrick McKay lead the series as showrunners, along with executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, director JA Bayona, Belén Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond and Sharon Tal Yguado, co -executive producer/director Wayne Che Yip, director Charlotte Brändström, and producer Christopher Newman.
