The legendary band posted posthumously its thirteenth and last studio album, “Made in Heaven”in 1995 after the death of the leader Freddie Mercury in 1991.
In 2004, Queen began acting with Paul Rodgers as your main vocalist before Adam Lambert He assumed the role in 2011. The latter recently played with the group in his huge “Rhapsody Tour”, which ended in Tokyo in 2024.
Queen shared a rediscovered song with Mercury’s voice, “Face it Alone”in October 2022.
What Brian May said about a possible new Queen album
Now, in a new interview with Mojo, May revealed that the door is not completely closed for Queen’s new music and told the magazine: “I think it could happen”.
He continued saying: “Both Roger [Taylor] As I are constantly writing, generating ideas and working on our studies. I could have the beginning of a Queen song right in front of me right now. The question is whether the idea matures or not. The question is whether that seed can germinate“
This follows Taylor’s similar comments last year, who was asked if the band could record and launch new material. “I think so,” he replied.
“Brian and I talked the other day and said that if we thought we had good material, why didn’t we? We could still touch. We could still sing. So I don’t see why not.”
The previous year, May revealed that Queen had “ventured a little” in the creation of new music with Lambert. “It’s just that they haven’t heard anything,” said the guitarist. “It would have to be something so special that we wanted to launch it to the public”.
Lambert then recognized the pressure of Queen’s return with new material. “If they are going to get something new, it has to be of a certain level,” he explained. “It has to be the right thing. And I have always asked myself: ‘Is it appropriate that you do new material?’.
In 2021, May said that making new music of Queen “would have to be a very spontaneous moment,” but confirmed that recording sessions had been held.
He added: “In fact, Adam, Roger and I have been in the study trying things, simply because they arose. But so far, we have not felt that anything we have done has given on the nail.”
“So it’s not that we are closed to the idea, it’s just that it hasn’t happened yet.”
