In a video, Gil Ofarim once accused a hotel employee of anti -Semitism. In the star-InterView he talks about his crash -and hopes for a comeback.
A year and a half after his process of alleged anti -Semitic insult, pop musician Gil Ofarim is self -critical. “The video was the biggest mistake of my life,” said Ofarim in an exclusive interview star. In October 2021, the Jewish singer accused the employee of a Leipzig Hotel in an Instagram video of insulting him anti-Semitic. Now Ofarim told the magazine: “With the video I not only harmful myself and my family, but ultimately all Jews in Germany.” He is very sorry that he has unintentionally proven the fight against anti -Semitism. “I didn’t want that.”
Ofarim Trank every day and had to sell most of the valuables
In the interview, the pop singer described that he paid expensive for his mistake. A few days after he published the video, there were doubts about Ofarim’s version for which no witnesses were found. “Everything just collapsed above me. Existing contracts were terminated, and soon I couldn’t get new orders.” In addition, public hatred has come, he still has threats to murder. The result: panic attacks, rapid heartbeat. “So I drank every day. I wanted the pain to stop.”
Today he is doing better mentally, says Ofarim. He spent eight months in a psychiatric day clinic last year. Financially, on the other hand, he is in need. He lives from borrowed money, sold most of his valuables, had to give up his apartment in Munich. This is also why he hopes that his comeback planned for the coming weeks will succeed.
