Three attractive national films among the premieres of this Thursday

“Emma’s dream”, by Germán Vilche, “inhabitants of the shadow”, by César Italiano, and “territory”, by José Celestino Campusano they integrate the list of premieres.

Two works filmed in 2023 and one from the beginning of last year make up this week’s national premieres. The review follows an alphabetical order. First, “Emma’s dream”friendly story set in the Delta, in the area of the Torito y Espera, where the best student of the local school has the expectation of knowing London thanks to a cultural exchange plan, but does not know how to tell his father.

They are two alone, and a few neighbors. And man is good, but saved. Another good man, the teacher and a big lady who does not talk to the children are interceded in the matter because they suspect that they want to put her in an asylum. A text of William Shakespeare And a little boyfriend contributes to the story. Director, coguionist and photography director (a soft autumn light), Germán VilcheGraduate of Image and Sound Design of the UBA. Music, very nice, Ignacio Gabriel.

For its part, the documentary “Inhabitants of the Shadow” Another story tells without words, the one that goes from the sunset of a cloudy day that threatens rain until the dawn of a city with its mixture of old and modern buildings. People who return from work and people who work at night. Cleaning staff, taxi drivers, someone who already walks nervously waiting for the last group, the employees of a newspaper assembling the packages that will have to take the kiosk at dawn. The old rotary, the deposits, already cause some nostalgia and a little piety. Director, an arts student from the University of La Plata, Italian Césarwhich also made the script, photography and assembly. In parts, even his work brushes poetry.

Nothing poetic, on the other hand, is the cinema of José Celestino Campusano. He paints with a fast and firm stroke, oblivious to delicacies, life, especially the struggle for life, of Buenos Aires. He also painted the Bariloche conurbano, the part that tourists do not know. His small production company is called Gross Cinema, and so his films, cinema to the gross, without refinements, especially in the acting part, where some speak as if they were about to grab to trumpent with whoever.

In “Territory”the film that now premieres, makes us the portrait of a retired boxer who knows them all but never has it easy. Young people respect it, politicians use it (Peronists against radicals, a classic of other times), a boxing show owner tries to cheat him, the friend prefers to leave with a working and quiet guy, the son is in rebellious and the daughter -in -law is not clean wheat.

Interesting fact, much of what is shown here is based on experiences of a true retired boxer, Alejandro Campusanobrother of the director. The work is dedicated to Iverint Franco López Churquinapromising Bolivian colleague who died young, hit by a motorist to which the police, curiously, let go of no problem. Filming in Berazategui and danger (it is true, there is a town with that name in the game of La Plata, and it is funny to see in the final thanks a line that says “would commission the danger”).
