Gene Hackman: Family does not want to release autopsy report

Could the mysterious death of Hollywood legend Gene Hackman (1930-2025) and his wife Betsy Arakawa (1959-2025) remain a riddle for the public? The relatives of the two -time Oscar winner apparently want to prevent the autopsy report and investigation files published. . Photos and videos of the corpses of the couple, the remains of their dog and their house in Santa Fe should therefore also be closed.

An unusual step, insiders say: The fact that a family tries to block an autopsy report is “very atypical”, “The Sun” quotes an insider from investigative circles. In the US state of New Mexico, where the couple lived and died, it is common for relatives to apply for more prominent not to publish photos of the autopsy. However, the insider has “never experienced” that a complete autopsy report is blocked.

So the world may never receive concrete answers to the question under which circumstances Hackman and his wife died. The couple and one of his dogs were found dead in his property in Santa Fe in New Mexico on February 26. At the beginning of March, forensic doctors confirmed that Arakawa died of the rare Hantavirus on February 11, while Hackman, who suffered from advanced Alzheimer’s, died of heart failure almost a week later. This would have shown his pacemaker’s data.

Most recently, however, some inconsistencies became known that let this version doubt. Betsy Arakawa is said to have tried to call a medical service several times on February 12, a day after her alleged death. A doctor has also confirmed that there were “no signs of breathing problems or an emergency” during the conversation. In addition, they called back twice, but neither Arakawa nor Hackman reached.

Gene Hackman leaves a son and two daughters from first marriage: Christopher (65), Elizabeth (62) and Leslie (58). His three children were actually excluded from his millions. Hackman had planned during his lifetime that his new wife Betsy inherited his assets. But because this probably died in front of him and apparently there are no other beneficiaries, the three should now be legally entitled to the inheritance.

Gene Hackman has been married to the 30 -year concert pianist Betsy Arakawa since December 1991. In 1986 the actor had divorced his first wife Faye Maltese after 30 years of marriage.
