The failure of her family life was “excruciating way of going through the fire”
When she talked about the lack of stability in her family life, the actress remembers that she was jealous of other children whose parents were more committed: “It is as strange stuff as soup when you are sick. I remember that all children at school went into the office to call their parents when they were sick and I could never achieve someone. Papa, comes to pick me up. ‘ I just sat there and asked myself: ‘How is that?’ “
In 2016, Barrymore and Kopelman divorced. The break had thrown her out of the track, as she revealed in 2022: “After the family life that I had planned for my children had failed, it was a chaotic, painful, painful way to go through the fire and to wake up again.” She had put everything back on for her little family: “I really love that everything revolves around the children. This may be my balance because I didn’t have a real parents and no real childhood myself,” said the 50-year-old in “People” in 2015.
