This Saturday the lights will run out in royal buildings such as the Buckingham Palace. This is the reason.
The Buckingham Palace will be in the dark for an hour on Saturday evening. This is on the official account of the Royal Family around King Charles III. (76) and Queen Camilla (77). At 8:30 p.m. local time, the lights will not only end in the official residence of the British monarch in London.
Call to participation
It also gets dark in the London Clarence House as part of the royal St James Palace and in the Windsor Castle in the English city of Windsor. The royal residences take part in a special day of action: The ‘Earth Hour’, one wants to support a WWF initiative, “which should raise awareness of environmental issues. Join us for 60 minutes and give an hour for the earth,” says the Instagram contribution.
As the nature and environmental protection organization WWF explains, this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. local time is to be “Light. Voice. For a lively planet.” the “Earth Hour” are committed. “Then the light is exhibited all over the world all over the world in the respective time zone for one hour to set a strong sign for more climate protection together.” The campaign has been around since 2007. Many public buildings or landmarks are then wrapped in the dark. In Berlin, the lights will go out again at the Brandenburg Gate. In keeping with the motto of the “Earth Hour 2025”, songs should be tuned together and sung with a live band on site, “for the protection of our planet, for cohesion and determination in moving times”.
