Actor Rolf Schimpf is dead. He became known primarily as chief commissioner Leo Kress in the ZDF crime series “Der Alte”.
Rolf Schimpf died at the age of 100. , the drama star died this Saturday morning in a nursing home in Munich. He should have fallen asleep peacefully. Schimpf became known primarily through his role in the ZDF crime series “Der Alte”.
Roles in well-known crime thriller formats
From 1986 to 2007 he embodied the title role of the chief criminal chief Leo Kress from 1986 to 2007. After 222 episodes, he said goodbye to the series. After that he had a guest appearance again. Schimpf was also seen in “Derrick”, “Soko Munich” or in several “crime scene” films. He was born in Berlin in 1924. After a commercial training, he devoted himself to acting training and several theater engagements. In 1984 Schimpf took over the leading role in the six-part ZDF series “Mensch Bachmann”, whose producer Helmut Ringelmann (1926-11 2011) helped him to go to his role in “The Alte”.
As the BR reports, Schimpf lived with his wife Ilse in a Munich senior residence from 2010. After the death of his wife, he apparently had to give up the apartment for financial reasons at the age of 99 and move to a retirement home.
