Complaints related to her lung fibrosis: Crown Princess Mette-Marit must cancel your visit to the Leipzig Book Fair.

Bitter news for literary fans and the team of the Leipzig Book Fair: Crown Princess Mette-Marit von Norway (51) has canceled her happy visit to the International Book Fair in Leipzig at short notice. As the Norwegian royal family announced in an official message on Monday, the princess must fit due to health problems.

Again health problems

“Unfortunately, her royal highness, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has to cancel your visit to the international book fair in Leipzig,” it says. As the reason for the cancellation, “complaints in connection with the chronic disease of the crown princess, lung fibrosis” are cited. The wife of Crown Prince Haakon (51) “will therefore be on sick leave for two weeks”.

The cancellation weighs particularly heavily because Norway is a host country of the Leipzig Book Fair this year. Mette-Marit should have spoken and attended the local booksellers at the opening on March 27. The crown princess is known for her passion for literature and has already undertaken reading tours several times in the past.

Mette-Marit has to step shorter

In the press release, the palace also points out earlier information, which was already published on March 6th. It was announced that “the crown princess suffers from symptoms and symptoms every day, which affect their ability to fulfill their duties”. The 51-year-old needs “more peace and her daily routine changes faster than before.”

This means that there can be “more frequent and short -term changes to your official program than we were used to”. Despite the health restrictions, Mette-Marit has “the strong desire to continue working”, which is why their official program should be designed in the future that “their state of health and their work are in the best possible way”.

The crown princess had made her lung fibrosis diagnosis public in October 2018. It is a chronic illness that leads to hardening the connective tissue in the lungs. The symptoms include shortness of breath, strong cough and exhaustion. The disease is incurable, but its progress can be slowed down by medication.
