Abuse process around Gérard Depardieu: Actor also rejects new allegations

Gérard Depardieu (76) remains on the third day of his abuse process in his statement that they have not had any sexual assault. The French actor also indicated the allegations of the second plaintiff. He was “vulgar, coarse, indecent”, Depardieu admitted in court according to “Le Monde”, but would never have been pounding someone.

However, the plaintiff, a 34-year-old director’s assistant, said on Wednesday that the actor in 2021 put his hand on her bottom on a short way from the wardrobe to the set during the filming of “Les Verts” and touched her breasts several times.

On Tuesday, the first plaintiff reported on a alleged incident on the same set during a dispute with Depardieu, in which the actor is said to have grabbed the stage designer. Accordingly, Depardieu said: “Come and touch my big parasol, I will put it in your M …..” ,. Regarding the vulgar statements accused of him, he said that they had been misunderstood. He could not recognize anything inappropriate and find his statements more than funny.

In the course of the negotiation, Depardieu also criticized the Metoo movement, which he blames for his process. “This movement will become a terror,” he said according to the newspaper. His argument went in a similar direction on Wednesday. Depardieu said that he was certain that a sexual assault was “worse than a grip on the buttocks”. He quickly added that he didn’t do that either.

The French actress Fanny Ardant (76), who played the leading role in the film, and whose filming the alleged attacks are said to have happened, committed to her colleague and “lifelong friend” on Wednesday. So she said she “never observed an inappropriate gesture” and: “I know that you can say to Gérard ‘No’.”

A total of around 20 women have made public allegations against the actor, including two for rape. The actress Charlotte Arnoad (29) submitted in 2018 as the first complaint against Depardieu and accuses him of two rape. In August 2024, the Parisian public prosecutor applied for a procedure for rape and sexual assault against the actor, about which an investigator still has to decide.
