Tennis legend Rafael Nadal auctions one of his rackets – for a good cause.
Rafael Nadal (38) made one of his original rackets available for an auction. After the end of his professional career last year, tennis fans can now acquire a piece of sports history. the last racket played by Nadal is offered for the auction.
A tennis racket for a good cause
On the side, the piece is described as the “personal tournament racket by Rafael Nadal”, with which he has played “in the last few weeks of his career”. The racket is hand-signed on the handle and framed in a white 3D frame under glass. However, the auction winner must bear the shipping costs himself.
The entire proceeds from the auction will benefit the Kinderlachen EV organization. The current bid (as of March 27, 3:00 p.m.) is 14,200 euros, but the estimated value is 40,000 euros. Interested parties still have some time to bid: The auction ends on April 15th at 5:10 p.m.
Last year Rafael Nadal finished his professional career
In October last year, Nadal, as one of the best tennis players ever, announced the end of his career. “The reality is that it has been difficult for several years, especially for the past two years,” said the 38-year-old, who was repeatedly struggling with injuries. The decision was not easy for him.
He played his last game around a month after this announcement at the David Cup Finals in Malaga – but unsuccessfully. “I lost my first Davis Cup game and today my last one. It closes in a way,” said Nadal after his defeat.
