In the trial of Gérard Depardieu, the public prosecutor calls for a suspended sentence of 18 months.
On March 27, a four -day trial against the actor Gérard Depardieu (76), which sexual coercion is accused of. The public prosecutor’s office is convinced of the guilt of the drama star and demands a probation penalty of 18 months, as French media report. Among other things, a fine of 20,000 euros, psychological support and the inclusion of the 76-year-old in a sex offender file was also applied for. The verdict should only fall later.
Depardieu, one of the most famous French actors, is said to have sexually harassed two women when filming the film “Les Volets Verts” in 2021. After his process was initially postponed due to health problems last year, he has been on trial since March 24. Depardieu assured his innocence several times before and in the process. He was “vulgar, coarse, indecent”, Depardieu had, for example, in court, but he never tied someone.
Depardieu is said to have bothered about 20 women
The process is not the only case in which depardieu is involved. Around 20 women have raised allegations of abuse against the acting star in the past – including two for rape. However, several procedures were discontinued due to an limitation period. The actress Charlotte Arnoild (29) was the first to submit a complaint against Depardieu in 2018. In the summer of 2024, the Parisian public prosecutor applied for a procedure for rape and sexual coercion against the actor, about which an investigator still has to decide.
