Katy Perry’s flight to space is imminent: the space company Blue Origin announces the start date of the rocket.
For Katy Perry (40) it will soon go into space: Jeff Bezos’ (61) space company Blue Origin has announced the appointment on which the singer lifts off. the “New Shepard” rocket is to start on April 14 from the launch Site One in West Texas. The start window opens at 8:30 a.m. local time, it continues. In Germany is already in the afternoon at that time.
Mission patch refers to the crew with symbols
Blue Origin also publishes with the start date, which shows the rocket in the middle. The names of the crew can be seen on the edges. In addition to Katy Perry Bezos’ fiancé Lauren Sanchez (55), which is headed by the mission, according to the company, will also be on board. Moderator Gayle King (70), former NASA rocket researcher Aisha Bowe, the film producer Kerianne Flynn and the scientist Amanda Nguyen are also part of the crew.
According to the message, symbols in the logo also indicate the crew members mentioned. “The fireworks symbolize the global influence of Katy Perry in the areas of music, pop culture and philanthropy,” explains Blue Origin. The small microphone stands for King, for Flynn a film role was integrated into the patch. Sanchez was considered with the main character from her children’s book “The Fly Who Flew to Space”. Among other things, the scales of justice should represent Nguyen’s standing for civil rights, the “target star” should indicate Bowe’s enthusiasm for the MINT area.
For Blue Origins “New Shepard” program, it is already the eleventh manned flight. Perry and Co. will probably not spend much time in the rocket. In 2021, a similar flight with “spaceship Enterprise” legend William Shatner (94) and other crew members on board was over after about eleven minutes.
