Charles to Earthquake in Myanmar: “Are terribly shocked”
The British king recovered on Saturday from side effects of his cancer therapy. Nevertheless, he sent a personal message to those affected of the earthquake.
British King Charles III. has been horrified by the destruction as a result of the earthquake in Myanmar. “My wife and I are terribly shocked and sad about the news of the devastating earthquake,” said a personal message from the king in the short message service X.
The 76-year-old monarch wrote to the people of Myanmar: “I have long admired your extraordinary resistance and mindset.”

Together with Queen Camilla (77), he expressed his deeply perceived compassion to those who have lost their beloved people, their home and their livelihood, Charles. He also regretted the destruction of pagodas, monasteries and prayer sites.

Under the name Burma, Myanmar was part of the British colonial empire under the name Burma. On Saturday, King Charles still recovered from side effects of his cancer treatment, which had surprisingly gave him a short -term stay in the hospital on Thursday.
The number of victims is more than 1000
On Friday, the earth in Southeast Asia had violated violently and caused severe destruction. The epicenter of the strongest quake was near Mandalay, the second largest city of Myanmar with 1.6 million inhabitants. The quake was also clearly felt in Thailand, China and Vietnam.
The number of officially confirmed fatalities after the earthquake in Myanmar is now more than 1,000 people. The military leadership of the Southeast Asian country also announced on state television that the number of injuries was more than 2,370.
