From the casting to the narrative differences with the original, the film has generated a deep debate on social networks. The changes applied by Disney to adapt the story to the times that have not been well received by all. The audience has been divided between those who celebrate reinterpretation and those who consider that the soul of the story has been lost. This division has had a direct reflection on digital platforms, where the film has received a wave of negative criticism.

Why has the public’s reaction been so negative against Blanca Nieves?
A part of the conservative public reacted from the beginning against the election of Zegler, an actress of Colombian descent, to interpret a Princess originally described as “white skin like snow”. But beyond the breed, criticism increased when The actress expressed her disagreement with the romantic approach of the original filmto which he described as “outdated.” These statements were seen by many as an unnecessary attack on a classic loved by generations.

To this are added the plot changes: The prince has been replaced by a new character named Jonathanthe dwarves were transformed into magical creatures of racial and gender diversity, and emblematic elements such as the crystal coffin were eliminated. In addition, political tensions also splashed the project, particularly due to the contrast between Gal Gadot’s public positions in relation to the Israel-Gaza conflict and Zegler’s pro-malefied position
The sum of these controversies has caused a massive rejection reaction on platforms like IMDBwhere tens of thousands of negative valuations have been recorded, many of them with the lowest possible rating.
The low white score
In IMDB, lA film currently holds a score of 1.8 out of 10based on more than 82 thousand votes, of which 82% correspond to evaluations of a single star. This qualification is placed at the level of some of the most criticized titles in the history of cinema, such as Dragonball Evolution either Son Of The Mask. The magnitude of the difference between these valuations and other more balanced metrics suggests the existence of a coordinated campaign of Review Bombing.
Unlike other platforms that have implemented measures to distinguish between verified and not verified users, IMDB still allows open and anonymous participation, which makes it difficult to determine how many of those opinions come from people who have really seen the film.
How does this impact for the future of Disney and his films?
In his first weekend, Blanca Nieves raised 43 million dollars in the United States. Although it is not a catastrophic figure, it is far from the usual standards for a study blockbuster, especially if it is considered that the production had a cost of around 270 million.
The case adds to a series of Live-action remakes that, with the exception of a few successes, have generated less enthusiasm than expected. The reaction to ‘Blanca Nieves’ could influence the Disney strategy for future adaptations.
