A nostalgic insight into Carl XVI. Gustafs Jugend: The Swedish palace shared photos from the monarch’s school days.
Sweden’s King Carl XVI. Gustaf takes a special appointment today: the school that the monarch visited as a child and adolescent celebrates its 100th anniversary. For this purpose, the palace has now published a number of archive pictures of the 78-year-old on Instagram.
A photo from 1960 shows the young prince into the camera in a dark red school uniform, on another he presses the school desk and looks mischievously. More pictures show the young Carl Gustaf with classmates and classmates, he can be seen in gymnastics on one. The palace also shared some photos of today’s monarch as an elderly teenager, including one at the desk and one at the celebration of the school leaving certificate in 1966.

Carl XVI. Gustaf did a military training after graduating from high school
After graduating from high school, Carl Gustaf trained with the Navy, Army and Air Force of the Swedish military. He then visited the universities of Uppsala and Stockholm, where he studied national economy, state studies, sociology and history.
After the death of his grandfather on September 15, 1973, Carl XVI. Gustaf at the age of 27 the new king. His father died in a plane crash in 1947 when Carl Gustaf was nine months old.
