HBO’s original documentary, Billy Joel: and so it Goesdirected by the Emmy winners Susan Lacy (Jane Fonda In Five Acts, Spielberg) and Jessica Levin (The Janes, Jane Fonda In Five Acts), premieres this winter in HBO and will be available in Max.

With exclusive access to unpublished presentations, home recordings and personal photographs, in addition to deep and intimate interviews, the documentary reveals the story behind One of the most influential artists of contemporary music. Billy Joel: and So It Goes promises to excite both fans who already know their career and those who are discovering the musician’s legacy.
“For those who believe they know the story of Billy Joel, as well as for those who are not so familiar, I think this documentary will bring surprises and revelations,” says Susan Lacy, director and producer of the film. “I was surprised to discover how autobiographical his songs are and how complex his story is. Billy Joel: and so it Goes is a production of HBO Documentary Filmsin collaboration with Pentimento Production, Hazy Mills Productions and Playtone Productions.
The documentary is directed and produced by Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin, with executive production of Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, Todd Milliner, Sean Hayes and Steve Cohen. Production also has Emma Pildes as a producer and edition of Kris Liem, James Pilott and Steven Ross. On the part of HBO, the executive producers are Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller and Sara Rodriguez.
