Mayor: Bezos wedding in Venice with 200 guests

As a wedding location, the lagoon city is very popular with foreigners. Now the mayor confirms for the first time that the Amazon founder also wants to marry there. Bezos itself says nothing.

The US billionaire Jeff Bezos and his fiance Lauren Sánchez plan their wedding in the presence of around 200 guests in the next few weeks in Venice. This was now confirmed by the town hall of the lagoon city for the first time. At the same time, Mayor Luigi Brugnaro reports that the 61-year-old Amazon founder had booked several five-star hotels and the entire fleet of water taxis for the appointment. He spoke of “fake news” without any basis.

Speculators have been speculated for a few days for the wedding, without the Bezos or Sánchez being confirmed so far. The time from June 24th to 26th is in conversation. The town hall has now confirmed that the organization is running for the festival. Venice is well equipped and is by no means overwhelmed. “Only 200 guests were invited”. The city had already mastered many international events of a different size without being overwhelmed.

Mayor: City for appointment well equipped

Brugnaro emphasized that the wedding date also applies: “Anyone who loves Venice will always be welcome. As a city administration, we work with the organizers right from the start and support them to ensure that the event will deal with the fragility and uniqueness of the city.”

The city with less than 50,000 inhabitants is practically overrun by tourists in the summer months. The new entrance fee has not changed anything either. Venice has been asking for a fee for certain appointments from daily visitors since last year – now up to ten euros per day. Hotel guests who pay a kind of tourist tax anyway are excluded. This also applies to the wedding party.
