Canadian finds clear words for Trump
The Canadian singer Michael Bublé struck a patriotic tone when moderating the Juno Awards.
While the Oscar ceremony was largely apolitical in Los Angeles at the beginning of March, Michael Bublé (49) took a position on current events at the Juno Award on March 30th in Vancouver. With a view of Donald Trump (78), he emphasized Canada visions: “We are not available.”
“We are beautiful”
In view of the US president’s customs and annexation threats to his northern neighbor, the singer added that Canada was “the greatest nation in the world” because the country experiences a wave of patriotism. “People, we are unique. We are beautiful,” said Bublé, who moderated the evening, the audience in his hometown Vancouver. Since Trump’s plans, which include the threat of 25 percent tariffs on goods from Canada from April 2, the Canadians have reacted with a wave of nationalism.
“If you sink deep, we climb up,” said the 49-year-old, reported. The Canadians would love their country. “And if you love something, you stand up for it and we will always do that.” He emphasized: “We will do it because we are impressive because we are fearless because we not only recognize our differences, but also accept them.” Because they not only made them stronger, but also “much more interesting”.
Bublé brought his wife, the Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato (37), to the stage of the Rogers Arena. He introduced them as “one of the latest and proudest citizens of Canada”.
These musicians were awarded
The Juno Awards honor the achievements of the Canadian music industry. Anne Murray (79) received the Lifetime Achievement Award. When she accepted the price, she wore a glittering red hockey jersey of the Canadian team. The Beaches were honored as the best band of the year. The Tikok Juno Fan Choice Award went to BBNO $, a Canadian rapper who is also known as Alexander Leon Gumuchian. He also became political: “Elon Musk is a bit of scum.” The price for the young artist of the year went to Nemahsis, who accepted her trophy with the words: “I am glad that I achieved this as a completely independent Palestinian, Canadian Muslim.”
The Canadian rockers Sum 41 gave their very last live appearance at the gala and were included in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Singer Tate McCrae (21) was able to obtain several prizes: for the best single of the year, as the best artist of the year, the best album and the best pop album of the year.
