Initiative of Argentine musicians will launch a house to stay retired artists

The House of Music seeks to give refuge to musicians in vulnerable situation. With support from artists and solidarity events, its opening progresses in Avellaneda by the end of the year.

The space already has a building located in Avellaneda, a few blocks from the train station. Although the structure is in good condition, it is necessary to make a series of reforms to adapt it to its new purpose. According to the official statement of the initiative, the estimated cost of these modifications is around 300 million pesos.

Fund collection for space remodeling

To raise funds and make the project a reality, a first activity called Something more than a songa television special. The building currently has two built floors, but the construction of a third floor in the future is contemplated. This extension would increase the capacity of the home to 32 residents, guaranteeing that more artists in vulnerability can find a refuge and a community.

The music house was born as a Pipo Lernoud’s idea after the death of violinist Jorge Pinchevsky In 2003, who did not receive adequate medical care after a traffic accident. At that time, the project could not be completed, but was recently resumed with the aim of providing a home to vulnerability musicians.

One of the most involved artists is Ricardo Mollo, who from his social networks disseminated the project highlighting its importance for musicians who need a space to live. The initiative is in charge of a Board of Directors made up of referents of the musical field and supported by an honorary commission with figures such as León Gieco, Teresa Parodi, Soledad Pastorutti and Peteco Carabajal. With this support, the Music House advances with the mission of offering a decent place to those who dedicated their lives to music and today are going through difficulties.
