Actress Rita Wilson has been cancer -free for ten years. She celebrates this with a post on her Instagram account.

Rita Wilson (68) has reached a special milestone: the actress and singer has been cancer -free for a decade. On the occasion of the special anniversary, she speaks -account. “For me this is a reason to celebrate. On March 31, I’ve been cancer-free for ten years,” says the 68-year-old in a video. “Ten years – and I’m infinitely grateful.”

In addition, the wife of Tom Hanks (68) thanks her doctors, friends and with her family – their gratitude is “overwhelming”. Nevertheless, she confesses: “I didn’t always feel that way. And everyone who has passed through or survived knows that it is up and down – like in a hamster wheel.” Wilson is in thought to everyone “who may have difficulties”.

In 2015 she made her diagnosis public

At the age of 58, breast cancer was diagnosed with Wilson. “Last week I underwent my husband at my side and the love and support of my family and friends of a mastectomy and reconstruction on both sides for breast cancer after I was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma,” said the singer in 2015. The cancer was recognized early. A few months later, in June 2015, Wilson announced that she won the fight against the tricky illness.

Her husband, actor Tom Hanks, made it clear how difficult the time of treatment for Wilson and her family was at that time: “It comes out of nowhere and brings everything to a standstill, because you can only leave everything else and concentrate on countless things that have to be done.” He was aware of how happy he and his wife could appreciate the best treatment. “But while it happened, I could only bow to my wife’s courage,” said the “Forrest Gump” star.

Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks have been married since 1988 and have two children together: Chet (34) and Truman (29). Hanks also brought two children from his marriage to Samantha Lewes (1952-2002) into the relationship – Colin (47) and Elizabeth (42). Lewes also fell ill with cancer and died of the disease in 2002.
