“Will miss you”: Cher is reminiscent of ex-partner Val Kilmer

Great mourning for Val Kilmer (1959-2025): In the early Wednesday morning, I reported that the former “Batman” actor at the age of 65 died of pneumonia. Numerous colleagues have already said goodbye to his social media. Ex-partner Cher (78) also spoke up.

The singer wrote: “Valus, I will miss you. You were funny, crazy, a nerve saw, a great friend, children loved you.” She also praised the work of the actor and described his embodiment of the Mark Twain in the one-man piece “Citizen Twain” as “brilliant”. He also showed himself “brave” during his illness. The actor was diagnosed with larynx cancer in 2014, but was considered healed.

Between 1982 and 1984 Cher was with the actor. The relationship caused a sensation at the time because the musician was almost 14 years older than her partner. In the “Howard Stern Show”, Cher spoke painful separation last year. Only once did a prominent partner ended with her, she reported to the moderator. “I was incredibly in love with Val Kilmer and he left me,” the singer recalled. When asked, she cited the age of her ex-friend as the reason for the separation. “He was really young,” said Cher.

The couple had once met at the Meryl Streep (75) birthday party and had come together after initial friendship. “He was a free spirit … he crossed every border. We had incredible times and also endured times when it was not because we were both alpha dairies. We were both individuals and none of us wanted to give it up,” she said in 2021 in an essay for “People”.

The music icon also explained: “I don’t know how we stayed friends, we are just. We didn’t try it. We were just.” During his illness of larynx cancer, Val Kilmer often stayed in her guest house. “He is a real artist and a man of the Renaissance. He was sick and that didn’t stop him,” said Cher about her good friend.

Kilmer celebrated the big breakthrough in 1986 with “Top Gun”, in which he offered as “Iceman” Tom Cruise (62). This was followed by roles in “The Doors” (1991), “Tombstone” (1993), his presentation of Batman in “Batman Forever” (1995) and the collaboration with Robert de Niro (81) and Al Pacino (84) in “Heat” (1995).
