DPA photographer Kappeler receives the Federal Press Conference Prize
The Federal Press Conference, the Association of Capital Journalists, awards a prize for outstanding achievements in the sense of lived freedom of the press. This year to a photographer for the first time.

The appreciation said: “The Federal Press Conference honors a photographer whose pictures have found its way into the collective memory of Germany.” Kappeler always succeeds in “capturing the one moment in the hectic policy company who reveals more about the ones shown than texts or moving images”. He does not try to run after pictures, but wait, watch and press the trigger at the right moment. The right moment is often crucial.
For the first time, the Federal Press Conference honored a photo journalist with its price. The price also goes to all photographers in political photography in Berlin, it said.
