Why I feel fit again with this e-bike as before

The star wanted to find out how helpful an e-bike can be for commuters in the big city. And tested the Urban Evo 2 from Bulls for three weeks in everyday life in Hamburg.
When I was young, long before e-bikes conquered the market, I loved to ride a bike very often. To school, the band test, the civil servant, later to the university. No way was too far, no weather too bad. At that time I fell lightly, I was fit and quick. Then I got older, lazy, slower. The force subsided. And with her the joy.
When I bought a Vespa 20 years ago, the joy returned. The scooter replaced the wheel on short and long distances. Hardly any faster in Hamburg, without traffic jams, without looking for a parking space. Only when the temperatures dropped below zero did I leave the Vespa.
Switch from the scooter to the e-bike
However, my scooter was stolen two months ago, the big city, the disappointment was huge. At the same time, I took the theft as an opportunity to try something new and switch to e-bike for three weeks-especially to commute between apartment and work. Around seven kilometers in each direction, rather downhill, back uphill, most of the time along the Elbe.
I chose the Urban Evo 2 from Bulls for the everyday test, which sounds powerful and adequately large -scale. Bulls is a own brand of the two-wheeler shopping cooperative (ZEG). It was founded in 1966 by dealers to make purchasing for bicycle retailing cheaper. And in fact you get a lot of e-bike for my model for 3599 euros.
The cell phone as a speedometer
The first impression: The bike looks elegant, high quality, well made and is relatively light at almost 20 kilos. The control unit is located in the top tube of the frame. The wheel and light are switched on and off on it, and one of the four support levels are chosen. It also shows the charging status of the battery.
If you want, you can connect the system to an app with which the cell phone can be used as a speedometer. Navigation and theft protection also run via the app.
I don’t need navigation in everyday life, I know the way. And so that the e-bike is not stolen, I connect it in the basement at home like in the office. Even without an app, driving fun is great. Because I’m comfortable, I choose the highest support level. The rear hub motor, as can hardly be seen from the outside from the outside, runs quietly and efficiently. I am happy about the thrust while starting – just a few kicks, and the bike reaches speed 25. If I want to drive faster, I have to pedal without support.
Accelerate, switch, steer, brake, everything is effortless. After four days and almost 70 kilometers, the battery is empty. Low temperatures and the high level of support have drawn a lot of electricity, and the thrust suddenly subsides on the way. After all, the front and rear lights still shine, so I can get home safely. I load the battery in the basement. Since it cannot be removed, the charging cable is inserted into a socket in the bottom of the bottom bracket. After a few hours the battery is full again.
This is how the days pass. Every route becomes happy, I even make excursions by bike, just for fun. The e-bike becomes my fountain of youngsters: I almost feel like I used to be.
