The Netflix series was ahead of its time-German but funny; Rapid, but precise. She recognized the abyss of the start-up culture early on. Now WHOLTEGERN-CEO Moritz is working on the last big business.
When Moritz is finally allowed to leave prison, he still thinks he’s a star. So he asks his family whether media inquiries have been troubled for him during the time. However, the answer is sobering. “There was only one request from Netflix,” explains his sister. “They wanted to film your life. Apparently nothing thinks of them. I deleted.” This dialogue can be seen in the new season of “How to Sell Drugs Online (almost)”. On: Netflix.
They are scenes like this that distinguishes the series from many other productions. “How to Sell Drugs Online (almost)” is ironic, rapid, in love with detail and always good for a meta joke. Only there is a joke made in a fictional Netflix series that films the life of a youthful drug dealer, which supposedly wants to film the life of a youthful drug dealer.
Moritz comes from prison
Fans of such twisted jokes are likely to be happy about the replenishment, which the streaming service provides Tuesday (April 8). The fourth season has six new episodes. The bad news for supporters of drug saga from the snoring village of rinseln in the no man’s land of North Rhine-Westphalia is at the same time: it should be the last. Netflix advertises it as the “final season”.
The focus is on Moritz (Maximilian Mundt) again. As a student, he built a start-up and likes the role of the far-sighted economic pioneer à la Silicon-Valley-Millionär. Just stupid that his business model had a catch: he acted with drugs.
The new season now tells how Moritz comes out of prison after four years. For script connoisseurs, it should also be said that invented series time and time in the real world cross. The publication of the previous season is also four years ago.
Revenge, greed, jealousy, betrayal – and many deaths
From Moritz’s point of view, the world stupidly turned away without it. His best buddy (Danilo Kamperidis) now works for Dan (Damian Hardung). And Dan, whom Moritz appreciates little, lives exactly the life that Moritz has imagined: he is the dazzling boss of a start-up that does not even have to sell drugs, but acts with supplements, which sounds very wonderfully based on the new business. Moritz is very difficult to see that.
Revenge, greed, jealousy, betrayal – they are very archaic motifs that are now being negotiated. Maybe that’s why the series will take a little more time to its characters. “How to Sell Drugs Online (almost)” is still much faster than many other productions – but also not quite as breathless as before. It feels as if the smartphone generation, whose zeitgeist she wants to capture, has grown up.
Likewise, the series can also be read as a very fundamental criticism of the so-called start-up culture, in which “entrepreneurs”, sometimes proclaimed “entrepreneurs”, hide dubious business models with self-expression. However, this motif makes it very present in 2025. Silicon-Valley capitalism has come into disrepute.
The main actor had to “go to” Doll “
All of this – garnished with the usual absurdities in the “How to Sell Drugs Online online (almost)” – cosmos – towards a big bang. “It is very, very criminal again and many people will die,” says main actor Maximilian Mundt of the German Press Agency. “There are kidnappings and chase.” And yet it stays funny.
For the 28-year-old, too, a chapter concludes with the final season, as he says. “Well, what should I say? It’s like the end of an era, a phase of life,” says Mundt. For him, it feels like he had grown up with the series that ran in 2019. “I still know that I wanted to give a speech at the final party of this season,” he says. “But I had to get rid of it very much.”
Maybe that’s why Mundt doesn’t want to let go of his Moritz. “I think you could continue to drive it and make a season again in ten years,” he said. “My wish would be that the series and the final of this season float around in the Netflix offices like such a spirit and you say in a few years:” Oh come, let’s woke up the characters again. “” It was just so much fun.
