Siegfried and Roy: At home in Las Vegas becomes a museum

The former private residence of the legendary magicians Siegfried Fischbacher (1939-2021) and Roy Horn (1944-2020) in Las Vegas is now officially decided.

The 7700 sqm plot of land with the 813 sqm main house and three outbuildings was offered for sale in 2023. Circus owner George Card had acquired it – according to “TMZ” for almost three million euros – and around one million euros in the renovation, as “Bild” reports.

Since then, Card has fought to be able to transform the property into a tourist attraction. For this, however, he needed approval because the former home of the magicians is in a residential area. Now Cards are said to have convinced the authorities in Las Vegas to be able to use the building as a museum commercially. René Meinert confirmed this in turn. He should be responsible for the German -speaking tours in the “Jungle Palace”.

The newspaper quotes Meinert with the words: “George Carden has convinced the citizens’ office in Las Vegas that the ‘Jungle Palace’ is a historical place that is of particular importance for the city. In a public hearing, the decision for the commercial use of the building as a museum was now unanimously accepted.” The entrepreneurs would now only wait for the security requirements to inspect the fire brigade.

Siegfried and Roy were probably the most famous magician duo in the world, with a show called “Siegfried & Roy at the Mirage Resort and Casino”, which was considered the most visited show by Las Vegas in the 1990s. In 2003, the magician duo ended its active stage career after Horn was seriously injured by one of his tigers during an appearance on the stage.
