His attacks on them were already legendary, but now there is apparently reconciliation between Madonna and Elton John. Will there be a duet soon?
The years between the music superstars Elton John and Madonna seems to be settled. In an Instagram contribution, Madonna described an emotional reunion with the British singer behind the stage of the US show “Saturday Night Live” (SNL). “We finally buried the war of war !!!”, wrote the 66-year-old. In addition, she posted a photo of the two pop stars who are holding in their arms.
John Madonna had criticized for her music and appearances for years, but at an edition of the legendary comedy show in New York, Madonna wanted to put him now, as she wrote. “I had to be behind the stage and confront him. When I met him, his first words were:” Forgive me ” – and the wall fell between us.” Shortly afterwards they would have hugged themselves. John even dedicated a song to her and wanted to work with her. “It was as if everything was going to fit,” wrote Madonna.
Dispute over Playback and Awards
The conflict of the two pop stars had dragged on for over two decades. In 2004 Elton John Madonna accused of singing Playback at a award ceremony. At the Golden Globes 2012, the dispute escalated when Madonna ended with the price for the best film song for “Masterpiece” John’s contribution “Hello Hello”. Elton John had previously explained on the red carpet that she “didn’t have the touch of a damn chance”. Years later he said in an interview about her: “She is such a nightmare, her career is over.”
In her Instagram post, she also explained how much Madonna put the attacks of her former idol: “Over the decades, it hurt to know that someone I admired so much, publicly showed his aversion to myself as an artist. I didn’t understand it.”
Now the feud seems over, with a hug, an apology – and maybe even an artistic cooperation.
