Tennis icon Billie Jean King honored on “Walk of Fame”
As a player, she won Wimbledon fabulous 20 times. Now Billie Jean King gets a completely different award.
The American tennis icon Billie Jean King was honored with a star on the famous “Walk of Fame” in Hollywood. “In her legendary tennis career, King was number 1 in the world six times and won 39 Grand Slam titles in singles, double and mixed, including 20 Wimbledon titles-a record,” said the organizers in Los Angeles. She also had great influence as a pioneer for women’s rights.
The 81-year-old received the 2807th star on the promenade in the US west coast metropolis. Basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson (65) and Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis (“Everything EveryWhere All At Once”, 66) also took part in the award for the athlete. Both were also honored with a star on the “Walk of Fame” in the past.
The “Walk of Fame” has honored stars from the show business since 1960. The sidewalk line on the Hollywood Boulevard, in which the star -shaped badges are embedded, runs through the center of Hollywood.
