Madonna and Elton John: “We finally buried the war on the war !!!”

The feud between Elton John and Madonna lasted more than 20 years. Two pop greats who were sought by musically-and both were truly not without scandals. On Tuesday, the singer published a photo of the two on several social networks and wrote enthusiastically that the two had finally reconciled after decades.

At the weekend she saw John at Saturn Day Night Live, a legendary late night show in New York. She spoke to him behind the scenes and asked him. “When I met him, the first thing he said was ‘forgive me’ and the wall fell between us,” she wrote. “Forgiveness is a powerful tool. We hugged ourselves within a few minutes.”

Elton John shared the post on his account and described the moment as “healing”. Or, as a user ironic commented: “In the truest sense of the word the modern contract of Versailles”.

The two combine a long history. Madonna had her international breakthrough in 1983 with “Holiday”, Elton John with “your song” at the latest in 1970. At the end of the 90s, the two posed publicly for photos and even stood together on stage in the New York Carnegie Hall. Then followed the public drama, which was mainly based on his side.

In 2002 John told the British broadcaster Sky News that “the Another Day” by Madonna was the “worst bond song ever”. He was the film music for the 007 classic “Stirb on another day”. In 2004 he criticized the singer at the Q Awards. John got the award as Classic Songwriter and scolded his acceptance speech about Madonna: “Madonna, Best Livact? Forget it. Since when has Playback Live? Anyone who sings on a public stage Playback, although you have paid 75 pounds to see him, should be shot. Thank you.”

Also at the Golden Globes in 2012, when both competed for “Best Original Song” in the same category, he claimed that she had no chance. In the end, the trophy took them home. Elton John is “known for getting angry with me,” she commented on his statements later. “He is brilliant and I adore him, so he will win another prize. I don’t feel bad about it.”

In the same year he declared her career over. That didn’t occur either. However, he apologized for this, John wrote in his Memoiren 2019. Now the reconciliation after the long -term taunts.

Madonna always admired Elton John, wrote her in her contribution on Instagram. He had a significant influence on her art. Therefore, it hurt her all the more that “someone I admired so much, expressed his aversion to me as an artist”.

Artistic cooperation now seems possible. Elton John wrote a song for her and wanted to work with her, said the pop icon.

The appreciation did not remain one -sided, the singer reacted to her contribution. He thanked Madonna – and apologized for his “big flap”. “You paved the way for an entire generation of artists who were successful and could be loyal to themselves,” he wrote on the platform. “You were also one of the first people who campaigned against HIV/AIDS in the 1980s and gave so many people who urgently needed, love and compassion.”

Both have the commitment to AIDS together. The Elton John Aids Foundation has been devoting itself to the fight against HIV and AIDS worldwide for decades.
