Pasta, pizza, politics and palaces: King Charles III. And Queen Camilla is currently on a state visit to Italy.

It is a visit with a symbolic power: King Charles III. And Queen Camilla arrived for a four -day state visit to Italy – the first official visit to the British monarch in Rome since his climbing throne. The focus is on political conversations, cultural exchange and the effort for good relationships between Great Britain and the EU.

At the start, Charles President Sergio Mattarella met in the Quirinalpalast. The conversations were primarily about climate change, sustainable agriculture and economic cooperation. The Ukraine War and the role of Europe in the geopolitical structure are also said to have been an issue.

The planned program of the state visit:

Monday, April 7, 2025:
Arrival in Rome. The royal couple ends up at Ciampino Airport and is received by Italian government officials. ​

Tuesday, April 8, 2025:
Meeting with President Sergio Mattarella: King Charles and Queen Camilla have talks with the Italian President in the Quirinalpalast. ​

Leaning on the grave of the unknown soldier: Honoring the fallen at the national monument in Rome. ​

Visit to the Colosseum: Leadership by the historic amphitheater, accompanied by Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano and director Alfonsina Russo. ​

Wednesday, April 9, 2025:
Speech in front of the Italian parliament: King Charles will be the first British monarch to spoke in front of both chambers of the Italian parliament. ​

State banquet in the Quirinalpalast: On the occasion of the 20th wedding anniversary of the royal couple, President Mattarella invites you to a festive dinner. ​

Thursday, April 10, 2025:
Visit to Ravenna: Participation in the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Ravenna from the National Socialist occupation. ​

Meeting with farmers affected by floods: exchange with local farmers who were recently affected by natural disasters.
