Mark Hoppus, singer of Blink-182, remembers a terrible date with actress Melissa Joan Hart in his new biography.
Mark Hoppus (53), singer and bassist of the punk band Blink-182, and actress Melissa Joan Hart (48), had a “terrible” date a quarter of a century ago. In his new biography “Fahrenheit-182” Hoppus reports.
The unequal couple had therefore met at the teen Choice Awards, whereupon the “Sabrina – Total Verhext” actress gave the musician to the musician. Hoppus was obviously interested and called the actress. During the telephone conversation, where he asked her for a date, Hoppus made a lot of trouble to look cool and speak in the Hollywood jargon, he recalls in the book ,. “I doubt that it impressed her,” said Hoppus. “I had just become famous, but she had been famous for years.”
No common topics: “It was difficult”
The subsequent date in a sushi restaurant didn’t go any better. The two celebrities obviously had nothing to say, the musician recalls: “Everything in her life was about acting and it was difficult to talk to her about anything else.” From her perspective, the conversation should have been similarly difficult, the musician also admits in the book – because in turn, he could only talk about music. “We just didn’t fit well. It was difficult.”
After a short visit to her home, Hoppus had himself brought back to his hotel. The evening was still going well for the rock star: in his room he saw that he had news from another flirt, his later wife Skye Everly. “I called her back and a few nice words quickly became a deep conversation,” said Hoppus.
The two have been married since December 2000 and got their 22-year-old son Jack two years later. Hart married the musician Mark Wilkerson in 2003, the couple had three sons.
