Prince Harry was published in London on the second day of his procedure. He continues to fight for higher security protection.
Prince Harry (40) was published in front of the High Court in London on the second day of his appointment procedure. The Duke of Sussex continues to fight for a higher level of security protection during his stays in Great Britain. On Wednesday morning, the 40-year-old arrived at the Royal Courts of Justice in the British capital shortly after 10:00 a.m.
The son of King Charles III. (76) Fencing the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), which had granted him a lower protection level after retiring as a working member of the royal family in 2020.
Dispute over adequate security measures
The legal dispute between the Royal, who lives in California and the British Ministry of the Interior, has been going on for several years. Harry’s lawyers argue that he and his family are exposed to special dangers in Afghanistan because of his royal origin and military past.
Harry had already suffered a defeat in February 2023 when the High Court confirmed the decision of the Ravec Committee. His current appeal is against this judgment. The Duke insists that the assessment of his security situation was incorrect and that he was entitled to a higher level of personal protection financed by the taxpayer if he travels to his home country.
“This case revolves around the law of the Duke of being adequately protected in his rare but important visits in his home country,” said a spokesman for the prince at the beginning of the hearing on Tuesday.
Personal appearance in court
Harry, who rarely travels to Great Britain, did not miss the opportunity to personally present in the two -day appeal procedure. This underlines the meaning that the prince attaches to the matter. During his current stay in London, he will probably not meet members of the royal family.
Since moving with his wife Meghan (43) and the common children Archie (5) and Lilibet (3) to the USA, the relationship with his family has cooled down significantly. In particular, the publication of his memoirs “Reserve” (original title: “Spare”) in early 2023, in which he suffered sharp criticism of the royal family, continued to burden the relationships.
The hearings are to be completed on Wednesday. A decision by the court is expected to not be made immediately, but will be announced at a later date.
