Ex-Federal Minister of Economics Christian Lindner has become a father. His wife Franca Lehfeldt gave birth to her first child.
FDP politician Christian Lindner (46) and his wife, the journalist and entrepreneur Franca Lehfeldt (35), have become parents. Your child was born a few days ago, said Christian Lindner of the dpa. The “Bild” newspaper had first reported. The former Federal Minister of Finance and the reporter married in the summer of 2022 on the island of Sylt. It is the first child for both. Lindner and Lehfeldt published a black and white photo of a baby hand on their Instagram channels, which is surrounded by two adult hands. They also wrote: “A few days ago we became parents of our first child. We are overjoyed and feel great gratitude that we are now a family.” They posted a heart emoji. The couple also thanked “from the heart of the great sympathy and the many congratulations” that they had achieved.
In politics, the party leader of the Liberals has been miserable in the past few months. At 4.3 percent, the FDP did poorly in the Bundestag election in February and missed the move into the Bundestag. Lindner announced his withdrawal from politics. The new FDP board will be elected in mid-May at a federal party conference in Berlin. On November 6, 2024, Lindner was released by Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) as Federal Minister of Finance, the coalition of the SPD, Greens and FDP broke the coalition.
The Wuppertaler native had commented on his relationship with Lehfeldt a few times in recent years. “Love comes first,” he said about 2023 in the interview of the magazine “Bunte”. “We usually see each other every day – if it works somehow, I also get long distances home at night.” When asked about the family planning, Lindner said: “We can well imagine children. But here, like in politics, the principle applies: less announce and deliver more.”
As early as 2021, Lindner had told the magazine on the subject of children: “In fact, my greatest wish in life is not to be a minister in the government. But soon to have two, three or four girls or boys.”
