Only two of the hundred best clubs and discos worldwide are in Germany. The party goes somewhere else. At least according to the voting from the specialist magazine “DJ Mag”.
The best club in the world is still on the Spanish holiday and party island of Ibiza after the latest ranking of the specialist magazine “DJ Mag”. From Germany, a Cologne club ends up in the top ten of the annual voting.
The “boathouse” in Cologne decided again at the survey of the specialist medium: it came to seventh place (previous year: five), while the Berlin “Berghain” slipped in 16th place (previous year: 13).
The “boathouse” is a dance location on a remote shipyard under a Rhine bridge at the Hafen Hafen. The technoclub “Berghain” has been in the former Friedrichshain heating power plant for over 20 years. It surrounds him a myth of strict bouncers, secretly operators, ban on photography, fetish and sex.
The “Hï Ibiza”, which opened its gates on the legendary Playa d’E en Bossa (Catalan: Platja d’en Bossa) in 2017, once again took first place in the top 100 clubs. “We feel deeply honored and are grateful to have been elected to the world’s best club for the fourth time in a row,” quoted the magazine Yann Pissenem. He is the managing director of The Night League.
This also operates the “Ushuaïa” opposite the “Hï” in Ibiza, which ended up in third place in this year’s ranking (fourth year). The “Green Valley” in the Brazilian coastal town of Camboriú is still in second place.
The winning club shines with lighting, sound and booking
The “Hï Ibiza” has been taking care of innovations on all fronts since its opening this season, praises the “DJ Mag”. This included the lighting, the sound system and the line-ups, which combine carefully selected big room headliners with emerging stars of tomorrow.
The operators say: “We in” Hï Ibiza “are proud to be a place where music combines cultures, overcomes borders and bring people of all social classes together.”
However, prices are not exactly for poor people: entry to this year’s opening party on April 26 costs around 140 euros.
The “Hï Ibiza” now sets up a record: it is the first club to make it to the top of the list four times. Last year it had equated with a triple with the “Green Valley”, which was chosen in first place from 2018 to 2020.
Low stand for Germany – the party scene is shifting globally
Germany’s nightlife and party scene is experiencing a descent. In the end, only two German clubs are represented in the top 100 – “a historical low and a clear signal that the center of the global club scene is increasingly moving,” writes the “DJ Mag”.
Europe loses width. For the first time, fewer than 40 European clubs in the ranking are there. Asia, on the other hand, increases. The region now has more than 30 clubs, with Thailand in particular standing out. “With three newcomers and a total of six placed clubs, the country is now the new center of the Asian club scene.”
Two Berlin institutions have disappeared from the ranking: the “Watergate”, in 2024 in 34th place, and the legendary “safe”, which was in 77th place last year. The “Watergate” was closed at the end of 2024. The “safe” said: “Here too, the upcoming closure in April 2025 should have played a role-a silent farewell to one of the most influential techno locations in the world.”
