Mickey Rourke shocked statements in the British “Celebrity Big Brother” container with homophobic statements. He is known for his turbulence.
He was considered the most spectacular resident of the current season of the British “Celebrity Big Brother” container. Actor and ex-professional boxer Mickey Rourke (72) has been under the strict camera eyes of the big brother since Monday. Just a few days after his move -in, he ensures plenty of conversation – but rather in a negative way. With homophobic statements to the US dancer Jojo Siwa (21), he catapulted himself away from the TV audience.
Homophobic statements shock TV audience
(April 9) there was an argument between the 72-year-old actor and the 21-year-old dancer in front of the cameras and the other residents, who is openly homosexual and lives in a relationship with a non-binary person. During a conversation, Rourke dropped several homophobic statements to Siwa. Among other things, Rourke said the conviction: “If I stay for more than four days, you will no longer be lesbian.”
In addition, a little later he expressed the intention of “selecting the lesbian very quickly”. Jojo Siwa then countered him: “This is homophobic if that was your reason.” In addition, Rourke then related a homophobic swear word under the pretext of asking for a cigarette.
“Big Brother” does not agree with this
Due to the controversial statements, he was criticized by another roommate, “Love Island” star Chris Hughes (32): “You can’t say that.” This behavior also fell on little understanding with “Big Brother”. Rourke was called by him to the “Diary Room” and warned: “Mickey, Big Brother finds your language offensive and unacceptable. That is why Big Brother gives you a formal warning.” The 72-year-old then reacted insightally: “Well, I understand. I apologize. I have no dishonorable intentions. I’m just talking stupid stuff, do you understand?”
Then he took Siwa aside to personally apologize to her: “I am often easy to start up and do not mean that. I’m really sorry, otherwise I would not tell you.”
Mickey Rourke is known for turbulence
Mickey Rourke should actually know that such statements are not good for public reputation. His entire career was characterized by some ups and downs. She reached a striking low when he put his job as an actor on hold in the 1990s to start as a professional boxer. He wore several facial injuries, which he later tried to correct through failed cosmetic operations. His world-famous face as capital for his acting career was gone.
His spirited personality also led to several feuds with other actors in the course of his career and made it difficult to work with him. The best known is the confrontation with Robert de Niro (81), which reported reported during the shooting of “Angel Heart” in 1987.
Rourke later rejected some roles in films that were supposed to reach true cult status later. Among other things, he was under discussion for “Pulp Fiction” and “Rain Man”. However, his work as an actor experienced an upswing again in 2009 when he was seen as a removed wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson in the drama “The Wrestler” by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky. For this he was even awarded a Golden Globe as the best main actor and nominated for an Oscar. Roles followed in “The Expendables” and “Iron Man 2”
His impressive comeback remained afterwards. In the past few years, Rourke has appeared in a felt endless series of B, C and D action films that are almost no longer noticed. In the meantime, he speaks openly about the abuse that he as a teenager suffered from his stepfather, a police officer. This made him tough – and led to lifelong problems with authority characters, including film directors. Whether “Big Brother” also counts will be shown in the next few days.
