Valea Scalabrino (34) has been seen as Sina Hirschberger in the RTL-Daily “Unter Uns” since 2010 (Monday to Friday at 5:30 p.m. on RTL or). In an interview with the news agency Spot on News, the Berlin native looks back on the exciting casting for her role and reveals how she sees her future in the series. In addition, she talks about her “under us” everyday life, the “very good friendship” to a colleague and her “Playboy” shoot three years ago.
How do you celebrate your 15th anniversary at “Unter Uns”?
Valea Scalabrino: We have not planned anything special to celebrate my 15-year Schillerallee anniversary. I review what has happened in the past 15 years and look forward to the upcoming years.
Would you have thought that you would stay with the series for so long and did you think of quitting?
Scalabrino: Of course I never expected that I will stay for so long. Who is expecting that he or she will go to another place for such a long time? I was still very young at the time and actually thought that it would be a maximum of two to three years. Honestly, I didn’t feel so comfortable in Cologne at the beginning. I think every person lives through phases that make him doubt. Is it still what I want? Where do I want to go? Such thoughts are very important to show you very specifically what you want and what you don’t.
You have been with “Unter Uns” since 2010. How was it for you when you got the role?
Scalabrino: I was at the casting in Potsdam. Afterwards I was invited to Cologne. There, however, it was not really agreed. It was not a “no”, but it was not a “yes” either. I should then travel to Cologne a second time. Then it worked. Then everything had to go very quickly.
And how did your role have developed, were you always satisfied with your development?
Scalabrino: I am consistently satisfied. I always had nice stories. My role has developed great over the years. I am extremely happy that everything came as it came.
What were the most emotional moments for you in the series so far?
Scalabrino: The wedding of Bambi and Sina was a very nice moment. It was very moving and emotional. But my game scenes with Rolf Jäger also remembered. It was a great time.
And how have the series and the shoot in general have changed since 2010?
Scalabrino: I believe that the series is subject to constant change. Be it through fashion, be it through language, be it through the respective changes in the actors or the stories. It happens again and again that new people are added – but it is also part of people going. This is how the dynamics of the series change. It is not just the opening credits that changes from time to time. It is also the series itself.
What does your everyday life look like with working on a Daily series?
Scalabrino: That is actually daily. There are days when relatively little has to be turned. But there are also shooting days that are packed. I always have a lot of fun working on the set. The reason for this is of course also the great team. We are like a big family that always holds together. Everyone does a damn great work.
You have been playing alongside Benjamin Heinrich for years. How is your relationship with him?
Scalabrino: We have a very good relationship. A very good friendship has emerged over the years.
What opportunities in life, but also what disadvantages did the “Unter us” role give you?
Scalabrino: To be in public, both an advantage and a disadvantage can be. One of these disadvantages is, for example, that you more or less accuse yourself of the public. Unfortunately, on social networks you can see again and again how cruel people can be and how they deal with each other. What many forget: Such evil texts leave their traces. As for me: I was lucky here. My community treats well.
In 2022 they had them photographed for the “Playboy”. What has the shoot changed for you?
Scalabrino: Back then I wanted to do something that I would never do otherwise. One thing that I have great respect for. True to the motto: feel fear, but still do it. I didn’t know how my family and my friends react to it. I also didn’t know how the public took up this idea. I was in a very difficult phase at the time. Looking back, I would tackle the shoot today differently than then. But of course I don’t regret it. It was a very formative time.
There are repeat offenders: Would you make a “Playboy” shoot again?
Scalabrino: Definitely. I think I took one or the other thing from the first shoot and could now implement it better.
How do you see your future at “Unter us”? How long do you want to stay with?
Scalabrino: I can wake up one morning and think that it is no longer for me. But: It has not happened over the past 15 years. So the probability is very high that it will not happen in the near future.
Should the final farewell threaten – what should a satisfactory series -off of Sina look like for you?
Scalabrino: Many actors want to die the special serial death. Our authors always have so many good ideas. I would blindly trust them in this case.
Do you have dreams when it comes to acting? Would you like to participate in a certain production or take on a certain role?
Scalabrino: actually not. I know that there are many colleagues dreaming of Hollywood. In my case, however, it is not the case. As a child, I have already worked in productions such as the “dream ship”, “Rosamunde Pilcher” or the “crime scene”. So behind many of my dreams I was able to check a catch. What I would actually be happy about: a project that I could connect to travel.
