After visiting the Ukraine, Prince Harry surprised his family with a special souvenir, as Duchess Meghan showed on Instagram.
Prince Harry (40) returned from his surprising visit to Ukraine to his family to the USA and had a special souvenir in his luggage. His wife Duchess Meghan (43) gave an insight into the reunion on her Instagram account.
she not only showed a lovingly prepared family breakfast, but also a special moment between Prince Harry and his three -year -old daughter Lilibet. On one of the clips you can see the little girl’s hands, which give her father a piece of cake. “A special gift that ‘Papa brought from Ukraine with him’,” wrote Meghan to the video and apparently quoted her daughter.
Symbolic gift for the sussexes
She also shared a photo on which her husband is presented by the gift basket including pastries by Julija Swyrydenko (39), the Ukrainian Minister for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture. “A gift for our family,” it said.
As can be seen in her story, the cake is Paska, a traditional Ukrainian Easter biscuits. This was baked by women from the Sumy border region. The area is badly affected by landmines and was the target of a Russian rocket attack on Sunday morning with around 20 deaths.
In her thank you letter to the prince, Swrydenko explained the deeper meaning behind the gift: “The whole team simply cries because pastries made by grandmothers from the Sumy region, now on the table of Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and her family.”
The minister emphasized her gratitude towards Harry for his commitment: “Her royal highness, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for everything your family does for Ukraine and that you help us to draw the world’s attention to the humanitarian mini evacuation in Ukraine.”
Second royal trip to the war zone
A visit to the Duke of Sussex in the West Ukrainian city of Lwiw last Thursday marked the second stay of a British royal in the country since the outbreak of war. Before that, only his aunt Duchess Sophie (60) had traveled to the Ukraine attacked by Russia. Harry visited the Superhumans Center, an orthopedic special clinic for the treatment and rehabilitation of war victims. He has been committed to wounded veterans and their families since 2014. A contingent of the Invictus Games Foundation also accompanied him to Ukraine, including four veterans with similar rehabilitation experiences.
The Ukraine visit took place directly after Prince Harry’s appearance in front of the British High Court in London, where he fights for the reintroduction of his state personal protection during visits to Great Britain. The trip was kept secret for security reasons until its return.
Family idyll in the USA
In addition to the special cake from Ukraine, Meghan also shared pictures of freshly baked American pancakes and a lavishly laid breakfast table with scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and bacon. “Weekend breakfast” and “for my loved ones” the Duchess titled the harmonious family scenes, while in the background their children Archie (5) and Lilibet can be heard.
