King Charles has cancer. He was in the hospital for a short time. But he travels and works again. In Rome, his wife Camilla now spoke about his workload.
Queen Camilla has recently indicated that despite his ongoing cancer therapy, her husband has never remembered shortening. “Wide on!”, She replied with a wink on the state visit to Italy when asked whether the king would take it a little calmer after his hospital stay.
She explained that King Charles was simply not a person for a quiet life. Rather, he was currently determined to make up for the “lost time” – time that he had stayed away from public duties for about three months after his cancer diagnosis in February 2024. In a conversation with British media in Rome, Camilla said: “He loves his work, and she gives him strength. And I find it wonderful when you were sick and recovered, it is better and he wants to do more and more now. That is the problem.” And further: “This is what drives him. To help others.”
King Charles cannot be stopped by his cancer
According to the sources close to the court, the treating doctors are confident that Charles can maintain his workload. A royal consultant said: “As people saw, the king enjoys his work and dealing with as many people as possible. He also has an insatiable reading – and because he reads a lot, he also learns a lot.” This is how the news portal “Express” writes.

In his role, Charles sees the opportunity to influence and make positive changes. Since the beginning of his reign two and a half years ago, he has shown this in a variety of ways. Charles’ focus and his lifelong passion are the topics of the climate, community, culture and commonwealth. You can also determine his agenda under the cancer treatment. During a state visit to Italy last week, the royal couple made 17 official dates in four days.
The king ended his state visit in Italy with a tree planting in the British embassy residence in Rome. He even joked about his cancer and said: “I hope I live long enough to see the tree grow,” reports the newspaper “The NZ Herald”.
Of course, relaxation for King Charles and Queen Camilla is now announced. Review the trip to Italy on your country seat Birkhall in Scotland. A palace employee praised the trip as a full success: “All of this was a proof of soft power in its best form – something that Britain can rightly be proud of and that benefits British interests abroad enormously.”
