Katy Perry poses in the Astronaut look before historical flights

Only a few more hours, then Katy Perry goes high. The 40-year-old singer will start this Monday as part of the first completely female crew with the Blue Origin space company. Appropriately, she shared first pictures in the astronaut outfit on Instagram.

“Happy International Day of Human Space Flight. Forever in awe in front of the universe and its orientation,” wrote the pop star about the pictures on which he bears a tight -fitting blue space suit. On a patch on the chest, the last name “Perry” proudly is emblazoned.

The eleven-minute flight is part of Blue Origins “New Shepard” program and will take place in West Texas. In addition to the musician, Jeff Bezos’ fiance Lauren Sánchez, the journalist Gayle King and three other women will also be on board – a historical premiere, because it will be the first purely female spatial flight since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo flight in 1963. In the post office, Katy Perry also added a picture on which she can be seen in her room suits with the complete crew.

The body-hugging blue suits were specially designed for this mission-and that of none other than Lauren Sánchez himself. The partner of Amazon founder and blue-original boss Jeff Bezos explained: “Let’s rethink the flight suit. Usually these suits are made for men.” Therefore, she had designed an outfit especially for women for the first time.

The helicopter pilot and former TV journalist got prominent support for fashion designers. “I think the suits are elegant, but they also bring a little spice into space,” said Sánchez. Every little styling detail at the flight is well thought out: According to this, the crew during the space mission will wear underwear by Kim Kardashian’s brand Skims.

Katy Perry announced in February that she would be part of the mission. She has been preparing intensively for the eleven -minute journey for weeks. In one she revealed that she is encouraging herself every day: “I talk to myself every day and say: ‘You are brave, you are strong, you do it for the next generation to inspire so many different people, but especially young girls.'”

For her preparation, the 40-year-old also reads works by the astrophysicist Carl Sagan and deals with astronomy. “I am really enthusiastic about the engineering art behind everything. I am excited to learn more about MINT subjects and about the mathematics that is behind such activities,” she said. Katy Perry has repeatedly addressed her love of space in her music.
