People: Katy Perry wants to sing in space

Popstar Katy Perry would like to do this during her short excursion into space, which she has become famous: “I think I will sing, I will sing a little, I have to sing in space,” said the 40-year-old in a short clip on Instagram, where she showed the training capsule for her trip. “I dreamed for 15 years to fly the space,” the singer wrote about the video. And now this dream will come true.

Perry flies into space on Monday (from 3:30 p.m. CEST) with a rocket by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. With her on board the “New Shepard” by Bezos ‘space company Blue Origin are Bezos’ partner Lauren Sánchez, US presenter Gayle King, the scientists Aisha Bowe and Amanda Nguyen as well as the entrepreneur Kerianne Flynn.

Bezos’ partner designed space suits

The musician also posted a photo of the six -member crew in the spatial suits that they will wear. These were designed by Lauren Sánchez in cooperation with the New York fashion label Monse. “I find the suits elegant,” Sánchez was quoted in a report by the “New York Times”. “But they also bring a little spice into space.”

The approximately ten -minute journey leads the crew to a height of around 100 kilometers – including a short phase of weightlessness. The rocket starts in the Texas desert near Van Horn and largely flies automatically. However, the appointment can change at short notice.

Blue Origin has been offering the short trips for space tourists for several years. Ten of them were successfully completed, according to the information there were a total of 52 people. At the first flight in 2021, founder Bezos himself was on board.
