Celine Dion’s appearance at the Swiss ESC continues to be uncertain
Does she come or does she not come? For Celine Dion, who won for Switzerland at the 1988 Music Festival, there would always be room on the stage in Basel. But that’s not enough.
Almost four weeks before the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel, it is still unclear whether Celine Dion will appear. The Canadian represented Switzerland in 1988, won and laid the foundation for her great career. The broadcaster left the question open when the celebrities who occur in the final week and at the opening show on May 11th.
Dion had expressed interest in participation, but it is seriously ill. She suffers from Stiff-Person syndrome with muscle cramps. Whether an appearance is possible should only be determined shortly before. For example, Dion sang at short notice at the opening of the Olympic Games in Paris.
Luca Hänni also appears
It is clear that former Swiss participants of the ESC will sing for the opening on May 11th. Among them is Paola (74), who is primarily the German audience through the years of moderation of the television show “Do you understand fun?” is known to her husband Kurt Felix. She had represented Switzerland in 1969 and 1980 as a singer at the music festival.
Luca Hänni (30) is also there, who won the casting show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” in 2012. In 2019 he reached fourth place at the ESC for Switzerland. In 2020, Hänni finished third with professional dancer Christina at the show “Let’s Dance”. Hänni and air have been a couple since then and since 2024 parents of a daughter.
