A short flight into space provides ridicule and malice on the net: pop star Katy Perry and moderator Gayle King are put on the grain, critics question the PR stunt.
Popstar Katy Perry and the partner of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Lauren Sánchez, took a short trip to space-on board Bezos’ rocket in a pure women’s mission.
The “New Shepard” brought the two together with the US presenter Gayle King, the scientists Aisha Bowe and Amanda Nguyen and the entrepreneur Kerianne Flynn to a maximum height of around 105 kilometers above the earth.
The capsule of the Blue Origin space company by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos stayed in space for only a few minutes and landed in the USA ten minutes after the start.
Katy Perry and Gayle King fly into space: malice and humor on X and Instagram
The short flight duration, the crew and its behavior commented on the Internet community on X and Instagram with a good dose of black humor. Katy Perry and Gayle King in particular get their fat away.
A user to X shared photos of Katy Perry, as she leaves the space capsule, stretched a daisy into the sky and kisses the floor. Your comment: “Get out of a scheduled flight in 2025.”

The facial expression of moderator King in particular is impressed by the X and Instagram users. Because she didn’t really seem to be really enthusiastic before the flight.
“King is like all of us on a Monday,” wrote X-user “Omar”.

The fact that Katy Perry had serenaded into space during the short trip also caused ridicule. A user writes about a picture of the shocked Kathy Bates: “Imagine that you are on the trip of your life in space and enjoy one of the most breathtaking and monumental prospects that an individual of our species can experience in his whole life, and your crew colleague Katy Perry starts singing ‘Woman’s World’.” However, Perry sang the hit “What a Wonderful World” by Jazz icon Louis Armstrong, as Mitpasslagier King reported.

Criticism of flight with Blue Origin: PR-Stunt
But there is also sharp criticism of space flight on the net. So the podcaster and columnist Derek Hunter wrote down: “Nothing to be bad, but they are passengers, not a crew, and it is a flight, not a mission. They have no control over the ship, they only sit there, hover for a few minutes and then return. The whole thing takes about 15 minutes. This is at best publicity.”
The film producer Andy Signore also wrote down: “I’m sorry, but that’s just as ridiculous as this forced moment of the women’s power in the middle of the battle in Avenger’s endgame – a billionaire who, together with a few rich female celebrities, sends into space, is safe, is stupid.”
And criticized: “It has billions of wasted dollars and thousands of tons of CO2-Missions tasted to send them to space for 30 seconds so that they say ‘We have to protect Mother Earth’, that is IJBOL. “IJBOL stands for” I just burst out loudhing “.
