Six celebrities around pop star Katy Perry were completely detached: the purely female space mission was successful. But the women are sometimes heavily criticized.
“Disassembly” is a model and actress Emily Ratajkowski over the flight of prominent women into space. On Tuesday, the Blue-Origin mission took NS-31 and sent six passengers into space. The trip lasted eleven minutes.
It was the first purely female space flight since the Russian cosmonaut Walentina Tereschkowa had started in space since 1963. On board were pop singer Katy Perry, television presenter Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez, the fiancee of Blue-Origin owner and Amazon boss Jeff Bezos. In addition, the scientist Amanda Nguyen, former NASA rocket researcher Aisha Bowe and the film producer Kerianne Flynn flew along.
During the flight, Perry serenaded and also announced the setlist for her upcoming tour. “This is end-time shit,” says Ratajkowski in a video at Tiktok. “This is beyond parody.”
In addition, like other commentators, the model indicates the environmental consequences of the space flight. “You say that Mother Earth is close to your heart, and it is about Mother Earth, and you fly into a spaceship that was built and paid by a company that destroys the planet on his own,” said the model. “Take a look at the state of the world and consider how many resources have flowed into the promotion of these women. What?”

Katy Perry has drawn attention to the consequences of the climate crisis
The flight ensures numerous memes and ridicule on social networks. Katy Perry is tackled particularly hard and referred to as the “hypocrite”. The pop singer was involved in the past as a UNICEF ambassador and drew attention to the consequences of drought: “They are always children who suffer from the consequences of man-made climate change.”
Ratajkowski is not the only critic. Actress and director Olivia Wilde shared a meme in her Instagram story with the addition “Billions probably bought a few good memes”.
Comedienne Amy Schumer also publishes a sarcastic video. “People, they invited me to space at the last second,” jokes Schumer. She holds a toy in the air: “I take this thing with me. It has no meaning for me, but it was in my pocket and I was in the subway and got the SMS and they asked: ‘Do you want to fly into space?’ So I fly into space. “

Others support the women’s crew. Among other things, actor Orlando Bloom, who is married to Katy Perry, was present during landing. TV veteran Oprah Winfrey also supported her friend, the moderator Gayle King. After the successful landing, Winfrey said on site: “I have never been as proud of someone today on Gayle. This is the true definition of courage.”
Crew members defend their trip
The space tourists cannot understand the criticism. At the subsequent press conference, King said that in her eyes “everyone who criticizes her does not really understand what is going on here”. “We can all talk to young women and girls about what this means here,” said the long -time radio journalist. Sanchez added that the ridicule had made it “really angry” and referred to the employees of the space company who “would put their heart and soul into this device”.
Blue Origin had started to send wealthy tourists and celebrities to the edge of the Orbits with his rocket in 2021. The occupants should experience weightlessness for a short time. The space capsule crosses the Karman line-the internationally recognized border with space-a hundred kilometers above sea level.
