The first advance of the last film of ARI ASTERit’s about Eddingtona modern western that will be released in competition during the Cannes Festivalit is the last Aster movie after the disappointment of the box office of Beau is Afraid of 2023.
According to Eddington’s brief description of A24: “In May 2020, a confrontation between the sheriff of a small town (Joaquin Phoenix) and the mayor (Pedro Pascal) light a polvorín while the neighbors face each other in Eddington, New Mexico. ”
Next to Phoenix and Pascal in the cast are Austin Butler, Emma Stone, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Amélie Hoeferle, Cliftton Collins Jr. and William Belleau.
Ari Aster about working with Joaquin Phoenix
The film is Aster’s fourth feature film, after Hereditary, Midsommar and Afraidthe last of which also starred Phoenix. All films are A24 productions.
Aster talked about working with Phoenix in “Afraid” during a discussion with Yorgos Lanthimos For Directors on Directors of the Variety Portal.
“After working with him, I understand why he is so reluctant to launch anything, because he really gives himself completely to everything he does.”Said Aster. “The way in which the material challenges, not for free or unbearable. The question is usually: ‘Is there something we have not considered?’
The Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 13 to 24and Eddington will premiere in the United States on July 18.
