King Philippe has reached a special milestone this Wednesday. Together with his family, he ended a Jakobsweg project.

King Philippe (65), his wife Queen Mathilde (52) and her children Princess Eléonore (17), Prince Gabriel (21) and Prince Emmanuel (19) ended a special trip this Wednesday. “Like thousands of hikers, the royal family has made it a habit since 2017 to cover part of the famous Jakobsweg to Santiago de Compostela in Easter,” was announced in an Instagram post from the Belgian Royals. “This year she completes her trip and reaches her end goal: the main square of Santiago de Compostela and its magnificent cathedral.”

In the week before Easter, the family had completed various sections of the Camino de Santiago. Now she was able to visit the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela and thus the goal of the Jakobsweg. The family shows a clip in the Instagram post in Legerer hiking clothes and when exploring the green hills.

Then the five run relaxed through the crowd of Santiago de Compostela. Emmanuel apparently couldn’t cover the whole route with his family, he can be seen in the pictures with crutches. Crown Princess Elisabeth (23) was not there. According to media reports, the oldest child of the Belgian king could not take part in the family outing due to his Harvard studies.

April 16 was a special day for the family for another reason: Princess Eléonore celebrated her 17th birthday. Her father King Philippe was 65 years old on April 15th.
