The former rapstar is accused of a number of sex offenses. Shortly before the start of the trial, there are two new charges. Combs therefore wants more time to prepare.
A few weeks before the planned start of the court trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs for allegations of sexual offenses, the US rapper has applied for a adjoining. His lawyers asked the responsible district court in New York on Wednesday to postpone the process of two months, which was scheduled for May 5, as the “USA Today” and other US media, citing a corresponding letter from the lawyers. This should give Combs enough time to prepare his defense against new allegations.
Combs has been in custody since mid -September. The rapper is accused by the public prosecutor’s office, organized crime and other offenses. Almost two weeks ago, two new charges were added, according to which Combs was said to have forced people to sex trading from 2021 to 2024 – so far the indictment had related to the years 2009 to 2018.
Combs is also said to have brought people with the aim of prostitution from abroad and across the borders of US states, according to the extended indictment. The additional allegations could ensure a longer prison sentence. His lawyers have so far denied all offenses.
Against the rapper there are also a number of civil lawsuits for sexual abuse. A law firm in Houston has announced that it represents 120 people with allegations against Combs.
The 55-year-old has been one of the most successful rappers in the world with hits like “i’ll Be Missing You” and “Bad Boy for Life” in the past decades. In the course of his career, he used the pseudonymous “Puff Daddy”, “P. Diddy” and “Diddy”.
