George RR Martin about “Winds of Winter”: He describes book as “Curse of his life”

The calls to doom, George RR Martins (76) book “The Winds of Winter” are the real “infinite story”, not to be dismissed. Fans of the “The Song of Eis und Feuer” series of novels, on which the successful HBO series “Game of Thones” is based, have been waiting for 13 years. Martin himself commented on this long waiting time and struggled: “This is the curse of my life.”

So there is “no doubt that ‘Winds of Winter’ is 13 years too late”. At the same time, Martin asserts that it continues to work on the completion of the penultimate novel of the book series. Only: Again and again one of his many other projects gets in his way: “There are periods in which I make progress. And then other things draw my attention and suddenly I have a deadline for one of the HBO series.”

In fact, Martin has plunged into various projects since the end of “Game of Thrones”. Above all, the “House of the Dragon”, who was also successful, has started with two seasons in recent years, Season Drei is already in the Mach. The spin-off is based on the 900-page book “Fire and Blood”, which Martin had also preferred instead of “Winds of Winter”.

And soon a second series offshoot will follow: “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” has been announced for the end of 2025. In the six confirmed episodes of the first season, Peter Claffey plays the leading role of Ser Duncan, the series is around 90 years before the events of the original series.

A movie to “Game of Thrones” has also been a decided thing. In addition, there are various formatums that have not yet had a specific publication dates. For the now 76 -year -old George RR Martin, the coming months and years do not necessarily seem to become more stress -free. And his fans still have to hope patiently that the “curse of his life” will be lifted at some point.
