While Ottonormal consumers complain about the high rents, money plays no role in oligarchs and billionaires. A large property is part of it – and costs.
This text comes from the star archive and first appeared in April 2024.
The most expensive villa in Germany should cost 40 million euros (find out more here). The Alexandrine cottage does not matter internationally. Because for the most expensive estates in the world, high three -digit million amounts are required – supposedly even billions. Most recently, the French Château d’Armainvilliers caused a sensation in this regard. If the Belgian real estate agent Ignace Meuwissen succeeds in really getting the targeted 425 million euros, the transfer of the Château d’Armainvillier would be one of the most expensive home sales in the world (you will find out more here). Because above 400 million euros or US dollars, the number of possible buyers is actually very thin.
This does not mean that there are no property that clearly exceed this price. However, one usually talks about pure value that is given to the respective property, and not of an actual purchase price. For example, in the case of the world’s most expensive building-the Buckingham Palace. It would be possible to sell it-according to some experts, it would bring up to seven billion US dollars.
Luxury real estate: discrete industry, silent customers
Exactly these estimates are the problem: they very often exceed what is actually paid for on the market for a house. The business with expensive properties is usually very discreet, which can lead to a variety of confused sources. A very good example of this is “Antilia”, the residence of the richest Indian, Mukesch Ambani. Depending on the source, its high-rise in Mumbai could be worth between $ 50 million and $ 2 billion. You don’t know exactly – and Ambani understandably relies with correct information.
Sometimes you learn the true value of a property in the painful way: “The One”, a villa in Bel Air California, was long as a candidate for one of the most expensive villas in the world. Former film producer Nile Niami originally wanted to sell the house for half a billion US dollars-and thus set a record in the United States. But before “The One” was finished, his company went bankrupt. Even for a “heavily discounted” price of $ 295 million, he found no buyer. Only when a forced auction did Richard Saghian, owner of the fast-fashion retail company Fashion Nova. Ultimately, he paid $ 126 million.
Niami’s dream had burst – actually he wanted to sell the most expensive property in the United States. This currently belongs to the investment banker Ken Griffin, who secured the four-story penthouse in the cloud scratch 220 Central Park South for $ 238 million in 2019 (find out more here). However, a possible competitor who could pass by is already lurking: “Gordon Pointe” in Florida, currently “” on the market for $ 295 million.
In the picture gallery you will find examples of extremely expensive houses – and the respective problems with pricing. Only one thing is certain: they are not cheap. On the contrary.
